Designed by renowned architect Han Pao‑teh, Nanyuan is a hillside retreat where Eastern Cultural Heritage meets Western aesthetics. Jiangnan garden aesthetics, Fujian architectural craftsmanship, and subtle Western influences coexist in quiet balance.
Set across 21 hectares of hillside landscape, the estate unfolds in a sequence of courtyards, pavilions, and structured vistas — an open-air composition shaped by time, nature, and human intention.
When The One began its stewardship of Nanyuan, it introduced a contemporary perspective — what we call a New Oriental approach. Here, culture is lived rather than put on display, and architecture is not a backdrop, but a way of experiencing life — slowly, attentively, and at nature’s pace.
Today, Nanyuan is recognized as one of Taiwan’s most distinctive cultural retreats; we have received international design and tourism awards, and welcome guests from around the world. In 2025, it was named among the Michelin Guide Taiwan’s Top 10 Recommended Stays, and in 2026 received a 9.6 rating in the Traveller Review Awards.

The One is committed to working in harmony with the environment, and to protecting Nanyuan’s 21 hectares of unspoiled greenery and precious Taiwanese cypress-wood architecture, which offer different views with each step. For safety reasons, children under seven and pets are not allowed. Disposable amenities are not provided. To ensure a comfortable, spacious environment for our guests, admissions are limited and by reservation only.
